Goldilocks Gets Gumption - A Fairy Tale about AI Optimisation and Living your Best Life
One of the things I help my clients with is on developing their storytelling skills.
And we’re all familiar with stories but sometimes the best ways to engage with your audience is by mixing things up a bit, putting in a few surprises. And I’ve done just that. I’ve rewritten a very popular tale.
You might know it as “Goldilocks and The Three Bears.” I’ve given it a modern, subversive twist and this is called “Goldilocks Gets Gumption: A Fairy Tale for Grown Ups.”
So, are you sitting comfortably? Then, we’ll begin…
Goldilocks had arrived with three goodie bags for the bears. They contained water bottles, a food diary and three pens in small medium and large, used to capture musings, half formed thoughts and big important things.
And best of all, they each received the latest AI optimisation tool, “The Beyonce” for women and “The Beckham” for men.
All of these goodies had her company's logo written on them “Nutrition is Nice”.
The next few weeks went by in a blur. Goldilocks became the bears’ Fairy Godmother. They adored her but it was the tough love that Goldilocks showed that made all the difference.
On the first day she'd stripped the kitchen cupboards.
Out with the pinks the oranges and reds of sugary treats and in their place the bright zesty colours of fresh fruit and vegetables appeared.
Baby Bear had cried for some time and stomped his feet quite a bit.
They had both sat down and had a cuddle.
And Goldilocks had talked to him about the power of using his words.
And of box breathing.
On the second day, she and Daddy Bear had a chat about the benefits of cardiovascular exercise, a lengthy conversation that had started after Goldilocks had hidden all of the remote controls in the house.
After a few hours together Daddy Bear began to see the light and soon his fridge full of beer was replaced by a fridge full of coconut water.
On the third day Goldilocks managed to have a word with the very busy Mummy Bear. They spoke about self-care and Goldilocks explained how you can't pour from an empty cup.
“Self-care?!” cried Mummy Bear.
“Care is what I give to other people. What's this self-care thing?”
“That's a big question, isn’t it?” said Goldilocks. “Have you heard of Brené Brown…?”
Some days later Mummy Bear had been acquainted with the importance of weight bearing exercise, the magical power of a daily walk in nature, and a strange but liberating concept, saying the word no.
The “Nutrition is Nice” program rolled on and their last few days together arrived.
But before they said their goodbyes Mummy and Daddy Bear made more decisions to optimise their life.
With the weight loss all three of them had experienced their furniture just didn't fit anymore.
Chairs were too large; their beds were as big as canyons and their clothes hung off them.
But help was at hand.
“Homes made Happy” and “Clothes that Care” were both subsidiary companies of “Nutrition is Nice.”
And it just so happened that Goldilocks had brochures of each company with her.
“Sit yourselves down and have a look at these brochures” she said. “I'll pop the kettle on.”
And soon, after only 17 different deliveries, the bears’ house had been fully transformed to support their new healthier lifestyle.
Goldilocks looked fondly at the three formerly chubby bears.
They were now lean, toned and brimming with energy.
They had lost many, many pounds. From around their tummies and from their bank accounts.
And with a soft smile, Goldilocks wished them farewell.
And she skipped down the lane on the way to head office. To collect her commission. And pay it into her high yield investment fund.
