The Personal

I’m from Edinburgh, Scotland. Marrying a lovely Viking took me to live in Iceland, The Land of Fire and Ice, and we now live in The Netherlands, The Land of Tulips and Cheese.

🟡 Although I consider myself more of an introvert there is a part of me that’s a performer. I’ve been Dorothy in “The Wizard of Oz” and Juliet in Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet”

🟡 I’ve run 2 public speaking and debating clubs, one in Edinburgh and one in Amsterdam, and debated in international competitions

🟡 I love writing and was a freelance writer for 11 years and belong to a wonderful creative writing community called “Write and Shine”

🟡 I’m a HUGE “West Wing” fan and have seen it 9 times: my knowledge of the script is unsurprisingly pretty good by now and C J Cregg is one of my role models

🟡 Eating cheddar cheese makes me happy (you can take the woman out of Scotland but not Scotland out of the woman)

🟡 I’m a tea lover and in my kitchen is a little trolley with 31 different kinds of tea

Why work with me?

I’ve been working in the world of education and learning and development for 28 years, have lived in 4 countries, and my clients are all over the world. As an experienced and qualified teacher, trainer, and coach, I’ve designed and delivered courses that show techies how to communicate with non techie folk, teach bankers creative storytelling to transform their numbers and graphs, and train scientists how to make their writing skills as dynamic as their medical breakthroughs.

My experience has taught me that learning is best done when people are engaged. So my 1-1 programmes and group courses contain variety, play and creativity. And this is why in 2023 I trademarked The Communication Skills Wizard ™️.
