Disclaimer - you can probably guess which side of the fence I’m on with that one… but read on. Have you ever shared a career challenge like this with AI?

Dear ChatGPT, it’s me again…I’ve had a heck of a week and, yes, I know it’s only Wednesday. Can you help? I'm struggling with three deadlines that are getting increasingly close and one of those involves that presentation to a client who I think I’ve mentioned to you before, you know the one that always looks at me like I’m a bit slow. I’ve a presentation to deliver tomorrow afternoon to senior management that I haven’t even started to look at yet but it’s hey, only 5 minutes…. so I can probably just wing it, can’t I? And my boss is still working in a different continent and time zone, and so you can imagine how easy that makes things.

At home, the cat threw up this morning for the ninth time in four days, right in the middle of my new living room rug, it’s Emma’s birthday party at the end of the month and I’ve a parrot costume to make for her. Did I mention I can’t sew? And honestly, I think that the last time I had a solid night’s sleep was in 2022.

I feel I am doing my best. Really, I am. I know how important it is that I’m focused in these meetings, that these client reviews go well, and I know that I need to get better at presenting online especially to the top brass and just stop waffling so much. I get it.

But I am just so knackered. I am.

And this is my question to you: Would it be possible if you could tell me how to make everybody I interact with for the rest of the week just be super lovely and like, really nice? Could you do that?

Sadly, ChatGPT can’t do this. Yes, It can give you a load of advice and what self-help books to read, but there’s a reason that people work with coaches.

Because a good coach will:

🟡 really listen and give you the time and space you need

🟡 ask questions to deepen your understanding of your challenges and opportunities

🟡 support you identifying solutions and trying out new things

🟡 when it comes to communication skills, provide effective strategies and techniques that have impact and create connection

🟡 Create a safe place to practise these new skills = sustained behaviour change

🟡 Ensure you’ll no longer wing it at these important meetings

If better communication skills and improved confidence would make your day easier and improve your career, I’m here to help.

Book me for a power hour and let’s start getting you seen, heard and valued at work!
